HOW TO CHOOSE YOUR GG
Your GG is built around you.
Before choosing a colour because you love it, or a curl because it looks beautiful on someone else, think about how you actually want to wear her.
There are four things we recommend choosing in order:
- Closure Size.
- Parting.
- Styling.
- Colour.
Each choice affects the next, and together they determine how your finished GG will look, feel and fit into your life.
01. CHOOSE YOUR CLOSURE SIZE
The first thing to think about is how much lace you actually want to manage.
A larger closure gives you more freedom across the hairline and more room to move your parting, but naturally, it also gives you more lace to look after.A smaller closure keeps everything a little more contained.
Neither is better. It simply depends on how you like to wear your hair.
Think about your parting.
If you wear a middle part, you have the most flexibility. Almost every closure size can create a beautiful middle-part finish.
If you prefer a side part, the amount of closure space becomes more important.
7×7: This closure size is usually the sweet spot when choosing your GG. It worksbeautifully across almost every type of GG and gives you a good balance between styling freedom and manageability.Whether you wear a middle part or side part, and whether you’re a beginner or more experienced with wigs, a 7×7 gives you enough space to work with without feeling like too much lace to maintain.If you are unsure which closure size to choose, 7×7 is usually our safest recommendation.
8x7: For a more open middle part or side part (especially a flipover look), where you want more of the hairline exposed and more room for movement, an 8×7 closure gives you the most freedom. However, due to the amount of lace exposed, it will be much harder to maintain.
6x6 & 4x7: If you prefer your side part to feel more contained, with less of the hairline exposed, a 6×6 closure can give you that more confined finish for a side and middle part.A 4x7 is recommended if you only plan to wear your GG in a middle part.
The easiest way to decide is to ask yourself:
How much freedom do I want, and how much lace do I realistically want to maintain?
If you rarely change your hair, you may not need the largest closure available.
If you love moving your parting, creating deeper side parts or wearing your GG slightly differently from week to week, the additional space may be worth it
02. CHOOSE YOUR PARTING
Your parting can completely change how your face appears.Rather than choosing one simply because it is trending, think about the features you would like your hair to complement.
There is no parting that is completely off limits to you. These are simply recommendations based on face shape theory
A side part can still look beautiful on a round face. However, a very full side part combined with large, rounded curls introduces even more volume around the sides of the face.If that is the look you love, wear it.If your goal is to create more length and definition through the face, a middle part may complement you more.
If your face is longer or more oblong;Be careful with combining a very long length, completely straight styling and a flat middle part.All three pull the eye downwards and can make the face appear even longer.Instead, introduce width.A side part can help. Layers can help. Curls or a fuller blowout can help even more.Even if you love a middle part, adding body around the cheekbones and jaw can completely change the overall balance.
If your face is oval.You have plenty of flexibility. Middle parts, side parts and softer flip over looks can all work beautifully, so your decision can be based more heavily on your styling preference and lifestyle.
The important thing to remember is that these are guides, not rules.If you adore a deep side part and have a round face, wear the deep side part.We simply want you to understand what each choice does, so you are choosing your GG intentionally.
03. CHOOSE YOUR STYLE
When choosing your styling, think about three things:
What can I maintain?
What complements my face?
What works with my lifestyle?
A style should still make sense after the first wear.
Straight
Straight styling is one of the easiest options if you want something polished, versatile and relatively simple to maintain.It works particularly well if you wear your GG frequently, travel often, work in environments where you prefer a more understated look or simply do not want to spend much time refreshing curls.
Curls
Curls create body immediately. The layers allow the hair to sit around the face differently, create movement and stop a longer GG from feeling like one heavy length.They are perfectl if you want that full, finished salon appearance as soon as you put your GG on.
Think about where you are wearing her.
If this will be your everyday GG, ask yourself what you are realistically willing to do in the morning.
If this is your work GG, perhaps you want something polished that requires very little thought.
If this is your occasion GG, you may be happy choosing something fuller or more styled because she will be worn differently.
And if she is coming on holiday with you, there is another consideration… Climate.
Hot weather and humidity affect styling.If you are going somewhere warm and want curls, think carefully before choosing an extremely long length.Longer hair means additional weight pulling on the curl. Add humidity, heat and movement throughout the day and naturally the curl will relax more quickly.Sometimes a slightly shorter curled GG will actually give you far more impact on holiday because the style holds its shape better and is easier to manage.
04. CHOOSE YOUR COLOUR
Colour is where people usually want to begin.We recommend choosing it last.Once you know your closure, parting and styling, you can ask the most important colour question:
Where is this GG taking you?
Because the colour you choose for an everyday work GG may be completely different from the one you choose for your birthday.
For work and everyday wear, …
you may want colour without feeling extremely ”vibrant”.
This is where deeper dimensional shades work beautifully,think:
Espresso. Mocha. Coffee. Chestnut.
They move away from traditional dark hair while still being incredibly wearable.They work beautifully for the office, dinners, church, meetings and everyday social plans because they give you something different without necessarily becoming the first thing everyone notices.
If you want to try lighter hair without going fully blonde start with dimension.
Highlight. Balayage
They are perfect if you constantly save blonde hair but know that an all over blonde still feels like a big jump, you can enter blonde gradually.
If this is your birthday GG …
you can be a little less practical.Your birthday is exactly when you can choose the GG that does not need to make sense for Monday morning.
Go lighter.
Go brighter.
Choose the colour you have been saving for months.
Creme. Honey
Creme gives you that unmistakable blonde moment; Honeykeeps the brightness but introduces more warmth.
For holidays think about the destination
Against sunshine, lighter colours can look completely different.But also think about how you will actually be spending your holiday.If you are going from breakfast to the beach to dinner and do not want to think about your hair all day, you may prefer a colour and style combination that still looks beautiful slightly undone.If you know every evening is an occasion, you might deliberately choose something stronger.
For church, important events and formal settings
If you want something sophisticated without feeling too quiet, look at your richer browns.
Mocha. Espresso. Chestnut
If you usually wear black and simply want people to notice that something looks different, this is often the perfect place to begin.If you want colour but are nervous
Do not choose the colour you think you should be brave enough to wear.
Choose the colour you know you will actually reach for.
PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER
This is where choosing your GG becomes personal.
You might be:
The casual outing girl
You want something you can put on quickly before work, wear to dinner afterwards and still feel like yourself.
Try a manageable closure, middle or soft side part, straight or softly layered styling and a shade such as Espresso, Mocha or Chestnut.
The birthday
You want the entrance.
Try a larger closure if you want more styling freedom, a deeper side part or flip-over look, curls or layered curls and a statement colour such as Cream or Honey.
The “first time colour girl”
You have always worn darker hair and want a change without feeling like a completely different person.
Keep the styling familiar and introduce Highlights, Balayage, Coffee or Mocha first.
The holiday girl
You want your hair already handled before the suitcase closes.
Choose a style you know you can refresh easily, avoid unnecessary length if maintaining curls is important to you and choose a colour that comes alive in natural light.
The low maintenance girl
You want the GG to do as much of the work as possible.
Choose the closure size you genuinely feel comfortable handling, a parting you already know suits you and a style you know how to refresh.
You do not need the biggest closure, longest length, lightest colour and fullest curl for your GG to be beautiful.
The best GG is the one you will actually enjoy wearing.
YOUR GG SHOULD MAKE SENSE FOR YOU
There is no universally perfect GG.
There is simply the right combination for your face, your lifestyle, your confidence and where you intend to wear her.
That is the reason every specification exists.
The closure controls your freedom.
The parting changes the framing of your face.
The styling creates the shape.
And the colour decides how quietly or loudly she enters the room.
Build her around the woman who is actually going to wear her.
I’d use “How to Choose Your GG” as the page title rather than “How to Build Your GG” because it answers the exact customer question and will also work better as a navigation/button label. “Build Your GG” could then be the language used when they actually enter the product configurator.
